Chelsea latest: Chasing new Ballack? Blues gave Gunner season low-point & more

All the latest news and views from Stamford Bridge including Jose Mourinho's apparent pursuit of another Real Madrid target, Arsenal player speaks out.

It seems like for the entire duration of the Premier League season, Chelsea have been linked to one Real Madrid player or another, from Karim Benzema to Raphael Varane, but now, have added another name to the speculation.

Once dubbed the 'new Michael Ballack', a tagline that the player himself loathed, German international Sami Khedira is a speculated new target for Jose Mourinho as the Portuguese looks to spice up his midfield options.

Apparently frustrated at being overlooked for midfield roles due to Xabi Alonso and Luka Modric's mainstay status, Khedira - whose contract expires next year - may be assessing his options.

Elsewhere, Chelsea's 6-0 drubbing of Arsenal - a significant statement in whom holds the power advantage in London - inflicted the worst moment of the season for Gunners star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Mourinho masterminded a 3-0 advantage within 17 minutes, putting the result seemingly out of reach for an Arsenal team who never looked like scoring.

Commenting on the low point, Oxlade told his club's official website: “It was horrible really.

"On the nights of those [type of] games you are really down in the dumps and anything that people say to you winds you up. You don’t want to speak to anyone or hear from anyone but you have to address what went wrong. When we played at Chelsea I did that pretty much straight away that night and the next day I tried to focus on the next game.

“That is what you have to do in football, anything can happen and you never know what is around the corner. You just have to be prepared to deal with the highs and lows. When you do have a good time, you have to enjoy it a bit more because the bad times can be really bad.”

Back to the transfer front, former manager Avram Grant confirmed the club's transfer plans involved "young talent". Here, HITC:Sport profile four of the targets Grant may have had in mind when pondering Blue arrivals this summer.

And finally, who is your Chelsea player of the year - Gary Cahil, John Terry, Cesar Azpilicueta or Eden Hazard?
