Manchester City latest: Early team news and possible £50m fine

All the latest news, views and transfer rumours from the Etihad…

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has urged his side to focus on what they need to do despite seeing Liverpool drop two vital points against Crystal Palace on Monday evening.

Speaking in the build-up to the Blues’ match against Aston Villa tomorrow evening, the Chilean said in quotes published by the Guardian, “I only know we have to win the game against Aston Villa. At the end of the week, we’ll see who has more points.

“We prepare exactly the same as we have during the year. We must win tomorrow and then we see what happens on Sunday.”

It has been confirmed that Sergio Aguero will not feature tomorrow evening, due to the groin injury that ended his game against Everton last weekend.

The BBC also reports that both Yaya Toure and Jesus Navas are fit to play against Paul Lambert’s side.

The Villans have doubts over Gabriel Agbonlahor and Joe Bennett.

In other news, the London Evening Standard reports that City could face a £50million fine and a reduction in their Champions League squad next season after breaking Financial Fair Play rules.

The club are said to be fighting the settlement that UEFA have put on the table.

City had not commented on today’s reports at the time of writing.
