Tottenham latest, midfielder's future to be resolved, Sherwood calls for Rose patience

A selection of the latest news surrounding Tottenham Hotspur this Tuesday evening.

Midfielder Lewis Holtby will find out from Tottenham this week if he has a future at White Hart Lane according to the London Evening Standard.

Holtby has been on loan at Fulham since January and he has been linked with a move back to his former club Schalke in the Bundesliga.

The report says that discussions should get underway this week. Stoke City and Aston Villa are also said to have made enquiries.

Head Coach Tim Sherwood is calling for patience with Danny Rose, saying that the left-back is still young and is learning.

Sherwood is quoted in London24, saying: “He went out on loan last season and proved himself in the Premier League against our opposition.

“He had to go out and do that at Sunderland and it was a good development phase for him. But he’s still got things to learn and he appreciates that, and he works hard to try and get better. He needs to improve all different factors of his game.”

There have been more developments on the situation surrounding Sherwood’s job at White Hart Lane, with reports surfacing this morning that they may try and attempt Roberto Martinez away from Everton.

Ajax boss Frank De Boer has been one of the names mentioned a lot in recent weeks and ESPN have picked up on an interview he gave to Gazzetta dello Sport saying he has no regrets saying Tottenham approached him, despite the club issuing a statement saying they hadn’t approached anyone.

He said: “I was interviewed and gave an honest answer.

“There were already rumours for a long time. So I thought within a couple of seconds, I should speak with openness.”
