Five reasons United are chasing fleet-footed German international

We take a look at five reasons to why Manchester United are chasing Borussia Dortmund star man Marco Reus and what he could offer the current United team.

According to several reports, one of the main targets for Manchester United this summer is Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus. The 24-year-old German will be, without question, concentrating on the World Cup before his future this summer but what do Manchester United see the attacker?

We attempt to try and answer that question and conclude just what Marco Reus would bring to the current Manchester United set-up.

The 24-year-old is undoubtedly very quick and in fact, the German international is considered one of the world's fastest footballers despite missing out on FIFA's official top 10. Nevertheless, he does have the pace to worry any defender in the world and combined with his agility, it's enough to cause nightmares.

One of the most influential parts of Reus' game is the amount of goals he scores, and the rate he scores them. This season, his longest 'dry spell' has been just four games - which in comparison with the rest of United's team is staggering. The attacking midfielder has actually netted an impressive 23 goals in 41 games whilst playing predominantly on the left-side of an attacking three.

Whilst he may not make the same number of dribbles as Chelsea's Eden Hazard, he would still rank within the Premier League top 10 for successful dribbles made and would be head and shoulders above any other Manchester United player in this area. He is incredibly tricky, which combined with his speed, is a frightening combination.

In the Bundesliga this season, on average, he has created more than 3 goalscoring opportunities a game. Which can only be bettered by Manchester City Spaniard David Silva in the Premier League. Nevertheless, it's not only his prowess of creating goalscoring opportunities that is impressive, it is in fact the amount of chances he creates that get put away.

If he had the same amount of assists in the Premier League, at this moment in time, he would have the most assists out of any player in the division. A huge selling point, if he even needed one.

Ability to create something out of nothing.

The most important aspect of Reus, in my opinion, is his ability to create an opportunity or goal out of nothing. An ability which Manchester United have been lacking for large parts of this season.

The German international has on average nearly four shots a game, as well as creating 3 goalscoring opportunities a game. A record which means per every appearances this season, he has produced a goalscoring threat roughly seven times a game. A statistic only Luis Suarez can beat.

It is a no-brainer. If Manchester United get the chance to sign Marco Reus in the summer, then they simply must do it. He would fit into their system well, would offer something that they've been lacking this season and quite simply would improve their title chances absolutely no-end.

He has been consistent in his form for the past 4 years which proves that, despite being relatively fresh on the scene, he is by no means a flash in the pan - he is a must-buy for Manchester United.
