A round-up of the best photos taken from Chelsea’s annual lap of honour in their final match at Stamford Bridge for the 2013/14 season.
Chelsea’s final Stamford Bridge match of the 2013/14 season ended in rather disappointing fashion as the Blues were held to a 0-0 draw by a battling Norwich City side.
The hosts were content on putting on a show for the Chelsea faithful and keeping their slim Premier League title hopes alive, but following a host of missed chances and near misses, the full-time whistle was met with a subdued applause.
It has been a long season for Jose Mourinho on his return to Stamford Bridge, and despite ending the season trophy-less, there are positives to take out of it.
The likes of Eden Hazard, Oscar, Willian, Cesar Azpilicueta and Ramires have all improved and the return of Nemanja Matic has been somewhat of a masterstroke by the Chelsea boss.
There have, however, been some low points and for the Blues’ old guard – Ashley Cole, John Terry and Frank Lampard – this could have been their last game at Stamford Bridge.
England international Ashley Cole gave away the biggest hint that his Chelsea career was over, as during the annual end-of-season lap of honour, he was visibly emotional as he appeared to be waving his goodbyes.
With an expected busy summer for the West Londoners looming, Chelsea’s lap of honour could well be seen as the final hurrah before the club fully enters Jose Mourinho’s second era in charge.
Here we have the best photos from Stamford Bridge.
