The Southampton manager has admitted that he will assess where he will be next term this summer.
Despite Frank de Boer being the bookmakers’ favourite to take over from Tim Sherwood at Tottenham this summer, Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino is also being named as a potential candidate.
With the Ajax boss making ambivalent comments over the weekend that hinted that he was happy in Amsterdam, there is every possibility that Spurs will turn to the South coast club.
With media speculation ramping up, the Argentine trainer has refused to be drawn over where he will manage next season.
“I am not one to talk about my own personal situation,” the South American coach told reporters, published in The Daily Mail.
“I do not like to talk about my own contract situation. I am just focused on being manager of this team and doing what is best for this team.
“I am focused completely on this competition. I understand all the rumours surrounding me and the future of the players, but these things will be spoken about at the end of the season.’
“It is only normal that these things will come up. I still have one year on my contract. It is logical that these rumours will come up.”
Pochettino’s appointment at St Mary’s was treated with disdain given the hard work that Nigel Adkins had put in to get Southampton into the Premier League.
However, the new man has made the side even better, with the Saints continuing to impress in the top half of the division.
