Giggs confirms Wayne Rooney will be fit for World Cup

The England striker is set to return to Manchester United action soon and will be able to feature in Brazil this summer.

With Roy Hodgson putting together his England squad ahead of this summer’s World Cup, there were doubts over Wayne Rooney’s fitness.

The talismanic forward has been on sidelines at club level due to a groin strain, with fears that Rooney would not play again for Manchester United this season.

The former Everton attacker sat out the Red Devils’ 1-0 defeat to Sunderland at the weekend, but Ryan Giggs has confirmed that Rooney is line to feature again for the outgoing Premier League champions soon.

"There's no big concern over Wayne,” Giggs told reporters, published in The Daily Star.

“We left him out as a precaution and we hope he will be available again for Tuesday."

Rooney will have the likes of Daniel Sturridge and club team-mate Danny Welbeck for company in the Three Lions’ attack.

The Manchester United man has scored 17 goals in the Premier League this season in 27 starts.
