Arsenal morning news: Wenger drops hint over future, admits frustration at title bid

A round up of news stories this morning about Arsenal.

Arsene Wenger has given the biggest hint yet that he’s ready to sign a new contract with Arsenal.

The Frenchman has played down talks over a new deal throughout the campaign, stressing he wanted focus to be on the team’s performance.

However, following the game against West Brom yesterday he said: “You will see me again.”

Arsene Wenger has admitted his frustration that the Gunners weren’t able to produce a better fight for the title.

Arsenal will have spent more days than any other side at the top of the table by the time the final game is played.

“We want more, as we were not sure to be in the top-four but we were 128 days top of the league so it is a bit of frustration too – but it has been tight as we are on 76 and the top of the table on 80 so there is frustration,” said the boss.

Arsenal continue to be linked with a move for Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa.

The Gunners have been tipped as a potential side for the Spanish international, who has been strongly rumoured as a target for Jose Mourinho at Chelsea over the second half of the season.

Costa is rated at around the £32 million mark though the cost of a deal would increase significantly with the cost of his personal package.
