Arsenal's final home game of the season ended not with the sudden elation of qualifying for the Champions League; that had been secured without the Gunners even kicking a ball. But their 1-0 win over West Bromwich Albion did see them reach their highest points total for six years, and point to what might have been had they not faltered in the winter months.
But the biggest story surrounded Bacary Sagna, as the French full-back played possibly his last ever home match for Arsenal.
The 31-year-old is out of contract this summer, and he is yet to agree a new deal. In fact, reports suggest he could be heading to Manchester City this summer, treading the same path as a number of former Gunners before him.
His name rang out across the Emirates for much of the game, with fans pleading for him to stay, but if it does prove to be the last time he runs out at that famous stadium in an Arsenal shirt, how did he do?
His performance was very impressive, as he made seven effective clearances, won eight duels, six aerial duels and three interceptions.
|Effective Clearance||Duel Won||Aerial Won||Interception Won||Mins|
In short, he had played as he has for much of his time in North London, which is exactly the reason his fans do not want him to leave.
Supporters read different things into Sagna's wife posting a series of photographs of herself at the stadium and Wenger high-fiving Sagna's son, but they will know what the player's plans are for certain after the FA Cup final.
Following Sunday's game, we took to Twitter to see what the fans thought of Sagna's performance and his future, and you can read a selection of what we found below:
After Sessegnon took out Monreal and I saw Sagna was the one left, I was rest assured he wasn't going anywhere. :)— BASHÖRUN GÖÖNER (@SPARKLYN_SHY) May 4, 2014

What's the point in spending 10m+ on another RB when all we really need to do is give Sagna whatever he wants.— (@InsideThierry) May 4, 2014
The way Sagna is bowing out, that's how Van Persie, Cesc, Nasri and Clichy all should have bowed out, with style and class.— (@TheOzilAssist) May 4, 2014
