Bayern Munich players warming up - Lahm, Ribery, Robben

A select round-up of news relating to Manchester United

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney could be on his way to Paris Saint-Germain for a fee in the region of £35milllion according to the Mail on Sunday.

The England international only agreed a new five-year deal at Old Trafford earlier this season, but as reports that Louis van Gaal will become the new manager continue, it is being suggested that Rooney could find his playing time significantly reduced under the Dutchman.

Van Gaal is known to be an admirer of his international striker Robin van Persie, and the report claims the former Arsenal man could even be made captain of the club ahead of Rooney.

But having only just signed such a big-money, long-term deal, if Rooney did leave (which remains unlikely) United could at least request a significant transfer fee.

One new player linked with a United arrival is Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben.

The Sun claims van Gaal wants to make the former Chelsea man his first signing, and becomes the latest player from Pep Guardiola’s team to be linked with United after Toni Kroos and Thomas Muller.

And finally, the Express reports that Moyes may not be out of a job for long, with Newcastle United said to be interested in the Scot if they part company with Alan Pardew.
