Arsenal Player Ratings vs West Bromwich Albion - Ozil and Giroud shine!

Emirates Inside

How did Arsenal's players fare in their - over West Bromwich Albion today? Here are the ratings for Arsene Wenger's side...

Wojciech Szczesny 6 - Given very little to do by West Brom, but was quick off his line to sniff out any danger as the Baggies failed to cause too many problems.

Bacary Sagna 7 - Whilst speculation continues to swirl over the Frenchman's future, Sagna gave a solid display today, contributing at both ends of the pitch to good effect.

Per Mertesacker 8 - Occasionally shaky in possession, the big German dealt well with balls in to the box, clearing the danger, using his aerial prowess to good effect.

Laurent Koscielny 8 - Was composed in possession and brought the ball out from the back well, and also read the play well to intercept any West Brom attacks late on.

Nacho Monreal 6 - Monreal performed fairly well but was substituted after being booked. Was out of position occasionally, rarely showing the ability to make people believe he could truly challenge Kieran Gibbs at left back.

Mathieu Flamini 7 - The Frenchman served his usual role in the Gunners side, breaking play up effectively in front of the Arsenal  back four.

Mikel Arteta 6 - Kept things simple and kept the ball well in the Arsenal midfield but most of his play is sideways, as the Spaniard offers little drive going forward which could see him replaced this summer.

Santi Cazorla 8 - Was effective down the right hand side with some great deliveries into the box with both feet, including from set pieces as one of Arsenal's most creative players.

Mesut Ozil 8 - Whilst often derided this season, Ozil was in fine form today, getting on the ball frequently as a key part of Arsenal's attack, whilst also putting in plenty of effort defensively.

Lukas Podolski 7 - Was unlucky not to score after hitting the post, and linked up well with substitute Thomas Vermaelen when the Belgian came on in a decent display.

Olivier Giroud 8 - Scored the winning goal today with a fine header from Cazorla's corner, proving to be Arsenal's matchwinner whilst holding the ball up well too.

Subs

Kim Kallstrom 6 - Came on for Arteta with half an hour to play, and replaced the Spaniard effectively with some neat and tidy passing in midfield.

Tomas Rosicky 6 - Gave Arsenal a burst of energy late on as West Brom chased an equaliser in a valuable cameo role.

Thomas Vermaelen 6 - Replaced Monreal at full back and performed well, getting forward well and putting decent balls in the box.
