Report: Bayern star ready to quit Munich for United - not Kroos

Bayern Munich striker Thomas Muller is said to want to quit the club and link up with Van Gaal at Manchester United according to reports.

Manchester United have been handed a massive transfer boost after a sensational claim came out of Munich last night.

According to German reports published by The Mirror, Bayern Munich striker Thomas Muller wants to leave the Bundesliga champions and move to Manchester United.

The Red Devils have been chasing Muller’s teammate Toni Kroos for the majority of the season, with Bayern Munich unwilling to cave-in to his high wage demands.

Thomas Muller’s motives, however, are somewhat different to fellow teammate Kroos as the 24-year-old is said to be unhappy with life in Munich following Pap Guardiola’s debut campaign.

The Catalan boss decided to make some tweaks to the all-conquering Bayern side of last season, and perhaps a number of German players within the Munich set-up are more favourable to the counterattacking style than the famed tiki-taki style adopted by Guardiola.

Adapting to Old Trafford couldn’t be easier for Muller. His English is near-perfect, and should his former boss Louis Van Gaal take over, he will have a friendly face to connect with during the supposedly difficult bedding-in period.

One stumbling block for Man United, however, could be the reported €45m asking price – a figure set by the renowned

Thomas Muller is deemed as one of Bayern’s most important players, demonstrated by his 23 Bundesliga starts this season – the club’s seventh highest.

He is Bayern’s second highest goalscorer so far this campaign, netting 12 goals in the league and five goals in the Champions League.
