In essence, Leicester City had nothing to play for in their final league game of the season, while their opponents Doncaster Rovers had absolutely everything to play for.
With the final relegation-place in the Championship yet to be decided, and four clubs at risk of dropping into League One, it was a David Nugent penalty for the Foxes and a late Paul Caddis effort for Birmingham City that ultimately condemned Doncaster to the drop.
But what of the Foxes, who will finally get to enjoy another season in the top-flight after so many false dawns?
Having romped to the Championship title with a remarkable 102 points, many will suggest they are set to come back to earth with a bump when the new campaign kicks off in August. But one Leicester fans has set them a very interesting points target for a campaign they are sure to already be planning for.
Former Foxes striker Gary Lineker took to Twitter after the final matches of the final weekend of Championship action to congratulate Nigel Pearson's men on their "magnificent season". But he also said 51 points would not be bad this time next year.
It may be a lot to aim for - in fact it would probably be enough to fire them into the top half based on this year's table - but why not aim high?
