Everton veteran issues stern warning

Leon Osman says that Everton will give their all to win against Manchester City on Saturday.

Everton midfielder Leon Osman has warned Manchester City that he and his teammates will go all out to win their Premier League clash on Saturday.

The Toffees will host Manuel Pellegrini’s side at Goodison Park in the evening kickoff. The match has massive significance for both teams: while the Merseyside outfit have to pick up maximum points to retain their chances of finishing fourth, a draw or a defeat for the visitors will hand the advantage in the title race back to Liverpool.

At the moment, City are third in the league standings with 77 points from 35 matches, three points behind leaders Liverpool with a game in a hand and a better goal difference. Meanwhile, Everton are fifth with 69 points from 36 games, four points off fourth-placed Arsenal.

Even if Everton win on Saturday, they will still be out of the running for the prized fourth spot if Arsenal pick up a victory over West Bromwich Albion on Sunday.

However, Osman insists that he and his teammates will go out on the pitch at the Goodison against City looking only for a win.

‘As a footballer you want to win games, especially the big games’, the 32-year-old Sky Sports. ‘We will be going into the game to win it. With the quality that City have in their team you can never rule them out. They needed to rely on a slip up by Liverpool to give them a chance. They are probably the favourites for the title now but we will be going all out to stop them.

‘It's been one of the teams I have been able to score a few goals against over the last few years. I think we have won more than we have lost against them. While it's still mathematically possible, we will be aiming to achieve a top-four finish and the only thing we can do is try and win our last two games. We play first this weekend and can put pressure back on Arsenal by winning’.
