All the latest news and gossip from The Emirates this morning.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has made it clear that there will not be wholesale changes at the club this summer.
Fans hoping for a complete overhaul of the squad will be disappointed but those who prefer the more patient and stable approach will be pleased with what Wenger had to say:
“It will be busy, but the main thing for us will be to keep the stability because we feel we are close. We want to add something that makes us even stronger, but, number wise, it will not be massive.”
He also had a mini-dig at Nicklas Bendtner in the press conference - not even referring to the Dane when discussing out of contract players.
“We have only two players who are out of contract – Fabianski and Sagna. All the rest need our agreement and they haven’t got it yet.”
Bendtner will leave this summer when his current deal expires.
Carlos Vela has admitted he is no longer against a potential return to Arsenal. The €30 million rated star has shone since leaving the capital for San Sebastian and Arsenal can sign him for a €4 million buy-back clause.
And whereas in the past he has spoken of his desire to stay away from Arsenal now he says he would consider it:
“Arsenal can come back for me at €4 million at any time, which is €1 million more than Real Sociedad paid. I look at things differently these days and I won’t close the door on Arsenal, or any team in England. I think I’m better prepared to play in another country now.”
Aaron Ramsey is desperate for Arsene Wenger to remain at Arsenal. The Gunners boss has not officially signed a new deal - although he has maintained that he will be staying with the club. And Ramsey just wants his future sorted out sooner rather than later:
"Obviously he has been a big influence in my career so far so me and the rest of the team want him to sign his contract and secure his future and help this team. He believes in us and we believe in him. We feel like we have a lot of quality in the team to go on and have many successful years."
