The top five players linked with signing for Tottenham Hotspur this week: Lukaku, Remy and more

Chelsea, QPR, Nuremberg, Ajax and Roma stars all feature.

Tottenham Hotspur’s transfer plans are a little difficult to judge at the moment when there is so much speculation over whether Tim Sherwood will be the club’s head coach at the start of next season.

Spurs are an attractive proposition for any potential signing because they are one of the biggest and most well supported clubs in England and they provide the platform of Europa League football.

Here are five of the best names linked with White Hart Lane moves this past week.

Romelu Lukaku (Chelsea)

There has been speculation this week suggesting Spurs midfielder Paulinho is a target for Jose Mourinho at Chelsea. A potential swap deal has been suggested, which could see Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku moving in the other direction and coming into the Tottenham squad.

Loic Remy (Queens Park Rangers)

Spurs are one of several Premier League sides thought to be interested in doing a permanent deal for the QPR star. Reports suggest that he’s valued at around the £12-15 million mark by his current club, with the biggest stumbling block created through Bayern Munich’s reported interest.

Josip Drmic (Nuremberg)

Drmic won’t be a strange name to any Tottenham fans that have followed this feature over the last couple of weeks. Arsenal are also reportedly interested but talkSPORT suggests he could stay in the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen close to doing a deal for him.

Joel Veltman (Ajax)

If Frank de Boer is named as Tottenham’s next boss then their chances of signing Veltman will increase. The latest reports suggest Arsenal are nudging ahead in the race for him, but Spurs could ante up if they are forced to sign a replacement should Jan Vertonghen leave this summer.

Tin Jedvaj (Roma)

The highly rated young defender has been mentioned in connection with Tottenham, as the idea of another swap deal involving Erik Lamela has been raised. Jedvaj has been linked with some of the best clubs around Europe so it would be a real coup for Spurs but it would mean them losing an attacking player they made a huge investment in last summer.
