The top five players linked with signing for Arsenal this week: Fabregas, Bender and more

Fabregas Arsenal

Barcelona, Bayer Leverkusen, QPR, PSV and Leicester City stars all feature.

Arsene Wenger will find things as difficult as any other Premier League boss this summer when he looks into the transfer market.

It’s well known that the Gunners are in a good position financially and the Frenchman is under big pressure to make some top quality signings in key areas to help Arsenal get back to the top of domestic and European football.

A striker and another centre-back are just two of the priorities for the boss. We’ve taken a look at the rumour mill, where Arsenal have been linked with some top players this week.

Cesc Fabregas (Barcelona)

Every time there is speculation over Fabregas’ future, Arsenal are mentioned as a possible destination. The Gunners have first option to re-sign their former captain, as soon as any club puts in an official bid for the Spaniard. He’d certainly improve the quality and experience in the middle of Arsenal’s team.

Lars Bender (Bayer Leverkusen)

Bender is the sort of holding midfielder that the current Arsenal side lacks. The Daily Mail suggests that the Gunners have made signing the German international one of their main priorities in the transfer market this summer. Wenger is apparently determined to ensure that the deal goes through.

Loic Remy (Queens Park Rangers)

The Frenchman, on loan at Newcastle United, provides a black and white contrast to current forward Olivier Giroud. He’s small, quick, agile and works the channels, cutting a seemingly perfect forward for the creative midfielders at the club to feed regularly. A £12 million price is firmly in Arsenal’s price range.

Zakaria Bakkali (PSV Eindhoven)

The 18-year-old has reportedly been made a take it or leave it new contract offer by the Dutch club, as he mulls over his next career move. PSV are apparently desperate to keep hold of the talented winger who can also play in the hole as a number ten or false number nine.

Kasper Schmeichel (Leicester City)

With Lukasz Fabianski likely to leave the club at the end of the season, Wenger will potentially need to bring in some goalkeeping back up. Schmeichel has good experience in English football and he could relish the chance to join a top side in the Premier League.
