Tim Sherwood Press Conference Smiling 12/02/2014

A selection of the latest stories involving Tottenham Hotspur this Friday evening.

Tim Sherwood has said whoever succeeds him as Head Coach at Tottenham would have a hard act to follow.

There have been persistent rumours surrounding the future of Sherwood with various names being linked with the top job at White Hart Lane for the start of the next season – the latest being Ajax boss Frank De Boer.

Sherwood is quoted in the London Evening Standard, saying: “I’ve just got to carry on with my business, show my personal pride and professionalism and make sure that those lads are prepared to win for the team and for the fans and for this great club.

“I don’t think he [De Boer] is too interested in looking at what I am doing already because if he did then he would see he has got a hard act to follow.”

Spurs travel to West Ham tomorrow in the lunchtime game. Sherwood has confirmed that Mousa Dembele will miss out with an ankle problem, and indicated that Jan Vertonghen and Etienne Capoue may not play a part after appearing in an under-21 game.

He said: “They were okay after that game and have trained this week. They will continue to train and be assessed but this game might come too soon for them.”

Former goalkeeper Paul Robinson has said the whole rumour mill surrounding the Head Coach’s position at the club has been a PR disaster.

He told TalkSport: “I think the best thing that Tim Sherwood has done in the last few weeks is managing to keep his counsel.

“He’s managed the club very, very well. They’ve spent a ridiculous amount of money and the people who have spent that money are not at the club anymore. He’s had to turn around a squad that’s not his and get results, but time will tell.”
