The first set of PS4 Project Cars screens are out and are looking very detailed indeed.

Project Cars the indie racing sim has always been reaching for authenticity and realism. Having cancelled ports for PS3 and Xbox 360 the Project Cars devs UK based Slightly Mad Studios have been aiming straight for the 8th gen. Project Cars creative director Andy Tudor took to the playstation blog to say, “We wanted the core driving experience to be the most authentic on the planet,” adding later that the game will be “something you’ll want to show off to your friends when they visit.”

And looking at the screenshots we’re inclined to agree. The meticulous details paid to weather and day and night lighting effects, car and tyre deformation and realistic car simulations are making Project CARS look very seductive. Check out the screens below.

Not only will you be able to show of the lovely graphics with Project CARS. We heard earlier that Slightly Mad will be working to bring support for Sony’s Project Morpheus VR headsets making this a robust contender with the likes of DriveClub, Sony’s own high-end racer which hasn’t had as smooth a ride as Project CARS
