Fans react on Twitter to Chelsea boss Mourinho's criticism of Hazard

Mourinho Press Conference Still

Jose Mourinho has laid into Eden Hazard today after listening to an interview from the player after defeat against Atletico Madrid.

Jose Mourinho has launched a surprisingly scathing attack on PFA Young Player of the Year Eden Hazard - seemingly laying a large part of the blame on the Belgian’s door for the defeat to Atletico Madrid in midweek.

Chelsea lost 3-1 - with two goals potentially Hazard’s fault for not tracking back.

And after the game Hazard made comments about the club’s style of play - which were slightly misconstrued and mistranslated in the English and French press to try and ruffle a few Chelsea feathers.

However, despite admitting that Hazard had his words twisted in the media coverage after the interview, Mourinho has still had his say on his ‘star’ player - and his words were not exactly complimentary.

“I listened to the interview. There was nothing critical in what he said. When the comments come from a player like Eden it's normal because he's not the kind of player to sacrifice himself for the team. Normally you get these kind of comments from players like him, from players that can't resolve a problem like we had in the first goal.

"Eden is the kind of player that is not so mentally ready to look back to his left-back and to leave his life for him. If you see the first goal of Atlético you completely understand where the mistake was and why we conceded that goal. I'm not happy. I speak all season and I try to improve him all season."

Mourinho discarded Juan Mata, and to some degree Kevin De Bruyne, in January because of their insufficient defensive qualities and Hazard is now already being touted as following them out of the exit door.

Paris Saint-Germain have a long invested interest in his services and have been linked with a potential summer swoop - something Hazard did not help by recently suggesting he would consider it if his wife wanted the move.

And football fans have been having their say on the matter. From the celebrity to the unknown - this situation has certainly got the Twitterverse rotating at some pace.

Here are some choice Tweets on the Mourinho comments which have livened up this sorry May Friday…
