PICTURE: Ex-Arsenal flop creates media storm with 'women's shoes'

Former Arsenal forward Gervinho has created a frenzy on social media and in the Italian newspapers by seeming to wear women's shoes to a function.

Gervinho has enjoyed a renaissance at Roma after leaving Arsenal last summer and has been very important in the Giallorossi's excellent campaign.

The Ivory Coast international was widely derided while playing for the Gunners, but he is fast becoming a fan favourite in the Eternal City.

However, Gervinho's latest fashion move has left even his most die-hard fans scratching their heads.

On his way to a charity event, the 26-year-old stopped to sign autographs and pose for photographs while appearing to wear a pair of women's shoes.

The dodgy fashion decision has already done the rounds on Twitter and has even made the front pages of some of Italy's sports newspapers.

The Corriere dello Sport jokes that Gervinho's popularity in Rome is such at the moment that the shoes he was wearing will immediately become fashionable.
