Stephen El Shaarawy has returned to training at the San Siro after a five month injury layoff and will be eager to put himself back in the shop window.
Tottenham scouts may be keeping a close eye on the progress of returning AC Milan star Stephen El Shaarawy, with the club previously linked with a move for the highly-rated Italy international.
The 21-year-old has been out of action for much of the past five months, but according to a report from an AC Milan news site, the player is now back in training and keen to impress in the final few weeks of the season.
Prior to his injury, the Savona-born youngster had caught the eye of Italy national team manager Cesare Prandelli, with ten caps to his name already.
However while the recent long-term layoff dented his plans of making the World Cup in Brazil, the player was also having issues at club level with Milan seemingly willing to cash in on the youngster and instead use Mario Balotelli as the spearhead of their attack.
Indeed, Adriano Galliani held discussions with the youngster over his role at the club and while El Shaarawy pledged his future to Milan last season, their current plight this term may see the forward rethink his options.
The 21-year-old is thought to have turned down a number of offers last summer, with Tottenham among those who continue to court the attacker.
With Milan losing at Roma last weekend, the Rossoneri are looking increasingly likely to miss out on even a Europa League place – something that could be very damaging to a team of their stature on the continent.
And with rumours emerging that Balotelli may also favour a move away, the time for El Shaarawy to jump ship could be fast approaching.
Spurs would no doubt be willing to offer him an escape and with the youngster likely to be keen on the idea of playing in the Premier League it could be a match made in heaven.
