City, along with Paris Saint-Germain, will apparently be made to cut the number of players included in their Champions League A squad next season, and will also be fined when Uefa’s club financial control board meet later this week.
It is being reported that the sanctions can be accepted, rejected, or negotiated prior to that meeting.
City have so far refused to comment on the story.
In other news, Blues striker Alvaro Negredo is hopeful his lack of goals does not see him miss out on this summer’s World Cup.
The Spain striker started his City career in sparkling form, but he has failed to score since January, raising questions over his inclusion in a squad full of world-class talent.
In quotes published by the Manchester Evening News, Negredo said, “Not playing regularly here means the national manager has not seen much of me. But I won’t give up. Quite the contrary; I am full of optimism.
“I believe he will still have confidence in me. I will carry on working hard in training and score as many goals as possible.”
Negredo may be suffering a barren spell at the moment, but his 23 goals this campaign suggest he will be on the plane to Brazil.
