Liverpool fans react to latest Suarez exit rumours - 'That'll get a foot and a shoulder'

Real Madrid are reportedly lining up a £70 million offer for Liverpool forward Luis Suarez.

Liverpool have been presented with another round of transfer speculation relating to their star player Luis Suarez.

Several national newspapers have carried reports of a planned £70 million attempt from Real Madrid to sign the Uruguayan striker despite the number of things which work against the idea.

Suarez signed a new deal with Liverpool earlier this season, which included a pay rise and is likely to have featured a clause relating to Champions League football, which Liverpool have now secured.

That was a massive statement of intent on the part of the striker that he would be staying put for the foreseeable future of Liverpool gave him what he needed and wanted in terms of European football.

In short, he has no reason to go to Real Madrid or anywhere else.

The £70 million figure being talked about apparently relates to the size of Suarez’ buy-out clause in his current contract but as Arsenal found out last season, even if you trigger that, it doesn’t mean an awful lot.

John Henry admitted earlier this season that the Gunners had activated the clause in Suarez’ old deal when they bid £40 million and £1 for him last summer.

The American owner suggested that contracts and terms aren’t worth a great deal in modern football and it’s turned out to be worth the effort for the Reds in terms of keeping their main man.

Suarez has just been named Player of the Year and barring a miracle, he will win the golden boot.

He’s set up to lead the side for what could be a Premier League title defence next season and an attempt to win the Champions League for the first time since 2005. The sense in moving to Real Madrid now is difficult to see.

Here’s what Liverpool fans have made of the latest wave of rumours.
