He couldn’t, could he? Wenger still on PSG’s radar for summer move - report

Arsene Wenger In Emirates Press Conference 2

A report in France claims Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is still being considered as a possible future manager by Paris Saint-Germain.

French publication Le10Sport claims Paris Saint-Germain are still monitoring the situation of Arsene Wenger as they look to secure a long-term manager for the Ligue 1 champions.

Laurent Blanc is currently in charge in the French capital, but the report claims a contract extension has gone unsigned for two weeks now.

That has prompted the latest report, which claims Blanc’s proposed deal would see him earn almost four times less than his predecessor Carlo Ancelotti and almost five times less than some of the players in his squad.

The story also claims that PSG president Nasser al-Khelaifi is in no hurry to “respond positively to different technical enquiries” from Blanc.

Bearing all that in mind, the report concludes by stating that PSG still hope to attract what they call a “world-class coach” in the close season, leaving Wenger very much in contention.

The Arsenal boss is reportedly “still in the minds of the Qatari owners”, given that he is yet to agree a contract extension at the Emirates Stadium.

And yet Le10 obviously did not listen to – or chose to ignore – Wenger’s recent interview when he revealed he had given his word that he would extend his current deal with the Gunners.

But that said, with two contracts still unsigned – both Blanc’s and Wenger’s – it is no surprise the rumours persist.
