Cross-gen character transfers offered in Destiny

Destiny 18

Halo creators, Bungie, have confirmed the ability to move your characters from one console generation to the next in their upcoming game, Destiny.

In an interview with GameSpot, investment lead at Bungie, Tyson Green, spoke to them about allowing Destiny players to transfer their characters from one console generation to the next. So, if you own an Xbox 360 or PS3 at the moment, and are thinking about upgrading to a PS4 or Xbox One in the future, all your time spent in Destiny won’t be in vain.

Green told GameSpot that Bungie are "really interested in making sure that a last-gen character can move to next-gen" and, "just because there's gonna be a lot of people that buy Destiny on, say, a PS3 or a 360 and then they get a PS4 for Christmas and it's like, well, 'Don't tell me I've just wasted my last hundred hours there.' We don't want to lock people in."

This is good news if you are thinking of upgrading your console later on down the road, but it’s uncertain if the character transfers will be cross-platform compatible, meaning a PS3 character can be transferred to someone’s Xbox One version of the game. We’ll have to wait and see if more details of this feature are revealed.
