Arsenal have made an offer to Kasper Schmeichel - report

Arsenal have reportedly made an offer to Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.

According to Danish newspaper BT, Arsenal are among the clubs to have made a firm offer for Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.

The 27-year-old has helped the Foxes into the Premier League next season, but with a contract that expires in little over two months, doubts remain over his future.

The latest report claims that Arsene Wenger’s side have made an offer to the ‘keeper, but face competition from Southampton, AC Milan and Olympiakos, who are all said to have done the same.

Schmeichel has become one of the best stoppers outside the top-flight, and while a stay at Leicester would see him rub horns with England’s best front-men, given his age and reputation in the game, it could be the perfect time for a move.

Not that the Championship title-winners would agree, but the Danish star has a big decision to make, with any new contract at Leicester likely to see him commit until he is into his 30s.

Arsenal are not in desperate need of a goalkeeper given the presence and performances of Wojciech Szczesny. But they have been linked with Schmeichel in the past and, if the latest report is to be believed, they could be bringing in some hugely talented competition for the Polish international.
