Andre Schurrle believes that the west Londoners could still record a memorable double this season.
Ahead of their Champions League semi-final second leg clash with Atletico Madrid at Stamford Bridge this week, Andre Schurrle has been speaking out about the possibility of the west Londoners winning both competitions this term.
“Everybody thinks we can win the league and the Champions League," the Germany international is quoted as saying by The Guardian.
"We know it will be tough but we have to believe and we do. Of course it will be hard for us from here.
“We have to do everything in our power to win the two games we've got left and hope Liverpool and Manchester City both give us something. But we're still in it."
Chelsea have been criticised for their defensive displays away to Atletico and Liverpool over the last week, but the former Bayer Leverkusen man said that the results were the most important thing.
"Winning is what matters. It's the most important thing," the 23-year-old continued.
“You can play perfect football, have lots of one-touch stuff, and you lose. But that's not what you want – you want to win. There's no point in playing well and losing.
“If our plan is to win playing this way, and we win, then it is perfect. If people look at us and say 'Chelsea can't play', even when we win, it's just because they're jealous.”
Schurrle put in a hardworking performance against the Reds on Sunday and is expected to play a part in the game against Atletico.
After a 0-0 draw in Spain, the hosts will know that a win tonight will see them through to the Champions League final.
