Chelsea morning news: Cole set for new deal? Former Blue backs team to make Champions League final

A round up of news stories this morning about Chelsea.

The Telegraph has reported that Chelsea are keen to open talks over a new contract for left-back Ashley Cole.

Cole has only recently returned to first team action at the club and has been playing as though he’s never been out of the team.

The 33-year-old’s current deal expires at the end of this season.

Former Blues midfielder Deco has predicted Chelsea will make it through to the final where he expects them to face Real Madrid.

The former Portuguese playmaker puts the Blues’ chances down to the skill and tactics of their manager, Jose Mourinho.

“Maybe against his last team, Real Madrid, I think it would be very good for him. I think Chelsea will go through. He's a fantastic coach,” said Deco.

Chelsea star Andre Schurrle has revealed that the squad believes they can complete an historic double.

Chelsea are the only English side left in the Champions League and they still have an outside chance of winning the Premier League.

“Everybody thinks we can win the league and the Champions League. It will be tough. But we have to believe, and we do,” he’s quoted by the Mirror.
