Arsenal morning news: Wenger given Benzema hope? Explains failed title bid

A round up of news stories this morning about Arsenal.

The Daily Mail has offered Arsenal hope in their pursuit of Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema.

The paper claims that the Spanish giants are open to talking about a deal at the end of the season if a side is serious about making a good offer.

Arsenal have been linked with the Frenchman for much of this campaign as the Gunners look to improve their attacking options.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says injuries cost his side the Premier League title.

The Gunners secured a 3-0 win against Newcastle United last night to move further ahead of Everton in the race for a top four place.

“I would not like to take anything away from Aaron Ramsey but we lost a number of other players in the same period and altogether I think that would harm the chances of many teams,” said the Frenchman.

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has slammed Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil for failing to deliver in big games this season.

The German made a sensational £42.5 million move from Real Madrid last summer and has had a decent first season in English football.

“He's got to get more goals into his game. A player in that position I think they've got to contribute more. Hopefully next year he'll be getting into double figures and then you would say he's had a good season,” Carragher told Sky Sports.
