Report: Dzeko, Torres then Lamela at top of Inter shopping list

Man City Inc Dzeko

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter see Edin Dzeko as their primary target this summer with Fernando Torres and Erik Lamela as back-ups.

Inter are ready to splash the cash this summer to try and launch a Scudetto challenge next term after a disappointing season and Edin Dzeko reportedly tops the shopping list.

The Nerazzurri have endured a season of underachievement and Indonesian investor Erick Thohir, who took over the club midway through the campaign, is expected to call for reinforcements to turn things around.

Coach Walter Mazzarri has made no secret of his intention to add some world-class firepower to his squad which has struggled in front of goal.

Rodrigo Palacio has 15 goals to his name and Mauro Icardi has eight but Inter are lacking a strike partnership on the level of Juventus' Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the dream addition to the squad is Manchester City man Edin Dzeko, but that could be a tough task.

It has been suggested that City would listen to offers for Dzeko, but the Bosnian international remains an important figure and he netted in last weekend's 2-0 win over Crystal Palace.

The pink paper suggests that the back-up could be Chelsea striker Fernando Torres who could be brought in on loan with his current club still paying some of his wage bill, which would otherwise be prohibitive.

The other option could be Erik Lamela, who has struggled to settle at Tottenham Hotspur since his big-money move from Roma.

Real Madrid marksman Alvaro Morata had been another leading target for Thohir, but he is reportedly determined to play in next season's Champions League and Inter are still battling just to secure Europa League football.
