Man United player: Giggs can be a new Guardiola, is just like Sir Alex

Anders Lindegaard has been full of praise for Manchester United’s new interim boss and compared him to some of the game’s great managers.

Ryan Giggs got off to a winning start as Manchester United’s interim manager, winning 4-0 at home to Norwich at the weekend.

Whether or not the former Wales international will get a chance to be the Old Trafford outfit’s full-time boss remains to be seen, with odds shortening on Louis van Gaal being hired to replace David Moyes.

However, one United player has been impressed with Giggs’ managerial debut and feels he could be as good as Sir Alex Ferguson or Pep Guardiola.

Anders Lindegaard has stated that the players respect Giggs and that the United veteran has all the qualities to be a great manager.

“Ryan Giggs has always held a kind of professional distance to his teammates,” the Danish goalkeeper wrote in his Betfair blog.

“He opened his mouth when it was relevant, and people have always listened. What we have seen in the first week has been more than convincing.

“The parallels with Sir Alex Ferguson are striking and it is clear that Ryan Giggs has been learning from history's most awe-inspiring football manager.

“His speech before the team went on the pitch before the match against Norwich was terrifying in a way that I have only experienced from Sir Alex Ferguson.

“It probably sounds rather naive and impetuous, and I understand people’s skepticism about any conclusion drawn from the results of the four remaining games, but to me that we are dealing with is a new Guardiola.”

Giggs has made the most Premier League appearances in the division’s history and has won 13 titles and two Champions Leagues as a player.

Although not stating that his time on the pitch is over, at 40 is seems that the Welshman’s next step is into management.
