One man that has consistently been mentioned as a target for the Old Trafford giants is Marco Reus, who continues to impress for Borussia Dortmund.
It is believed that the Germany international has a €35 million release clause in his current contract at Signal Iduna Park, with some of Europe’s biggest clubs keeping an eye on the talented winger.
However, a report in Bild today claims that Reus’ situation at Dortmund could well be set to change.
The German newspaper state that Jurgen Klopp’s men have offered Reus a new contract with the club, which will boost his annual wages from €5m to €7m.
The report also claims that the new deal would scrap the former Borussia Monchengladbach man’s release clause, ensuring that a repeat a Mario Gotze-like situation could not happen.
As yet it is early days and there has been no confirmation from the player or club, but if true it could well put a dent in United’s summer recruitment plans.
Reus’ current contract expires in the summer of 2017, while Dortmund are believed to want to update his terms with the club before the end of this season.
