Patrick Kluivert has been full of praise for the Netherlands national boss and stated he would be happy to be the coach’s assistant at Old Trafford.
Some media sources claim that the Dutchman has already agreed to move to Old Trafford after the World Cup, while others state that the deal is close.
Van Gaal’s current assistant with Holland Patrick Kluivert has been full of praise for the former Bayern Munich chief and stated that United would be making a wise decision by appointing the experienced manager.
"He would be absolutely the first pick of any club, especially top teams everywhere in the world,” the former Newcastle United striker told talkSPORT.
"He likes to let young players make their debut if ready for it. The most important thing at the moment is I'm personally enjoying working with him and with the Dutch national team. We're going to the World Cup and hope to do well.”
Kluivert is being mentioned as potentially joining Van Gaal in Manchester and the retired centre forward admitted he is open to the idea.
"After that we'll see what happens and with me as well,” Kluivert continued.
"Sure I would [do the job] wherever in the world because I love working with him. It doesn't matter what club it will be if he asks me to join him, I would be absolutely honoured to be on his side."
Van Gaal has already confirmed that he will step down from his role with the Netherlands after this summer’s World Cup and has expressed an interest in the Premier League.
Other contenders such as Jurgen Klopp, Carlo Ancelotti and Diego Simeone have ruled themselves out of the running.
