The Ballon d'Or winner & former Manchester United player scored two sublime strikes from distance to set Real Madrid on their way to a 4-0 win over Osasuna.
Real Madrid moved up to second in the league, three points behind rivals Atletico Madrid, with a quite literally thumping win over Osasuna.
The thump described came from the quite phenomenal right boot of Portugal star Ronaldo.
His two opening goals, one in each half, were both fantastic long range efforts that flew past goalkeeper Andres Fernandez.
The first strike was from 35 yards out, as Ronaldo cut in from the left and hit the ball with his customary 'sudden-dip' spin that saw it loop perfectly over Fernandez and into the far corner.
If anything the second goal was even better, Ronaldo again moving the ball onto his right peg 25 yards out but much more central and unleashing a rocket of shot that looked like it would have gone into orbit had the net not been there. What's more it was perfectly in the top corner.
Never has the phrase 'foot like a traction-engine' been more appropriate.
Real may still hope they can lift the title, with Atletico traveling to Barcelona on the final day. If they lose to the Catalans, Real may find themselves able to come out on top.
