Tottenham Hotspur beat Stoke City 1-0 at the Britannia Stadium earlier today.

Tottenham Hotspur won 1-0 on Saturday afternoon courtesy of a goal from an unlikely source.

Much has been made of the goal-scoring exploits of Emmanuel Adebayor and creative force of Christian Eriksen, but it was left-back Danny Rose who found the net after good work from the Togo striker.

That would prove to be the decisive moment despite good chances for the home side's Steven Nzonzi and Marko Arnautovic.

Ryan Shawcross was sent off for Mark Hughes' side after the defender collected a second booking for a foul on Rose.

The result means Tottenham are now just three points behind Everton and could still leapfrog them into fifth position by the end of the season.  Stoke are 10th with 44 points from 36 games.
