On this day: Vela dreads return, 'Next Kaka' to United and Suarez 'truly very sorry'

Carlos Vela Arsenal

On the 26th April 2013 what were the stories that dominated the football landscape? Including Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool.

I am casting my eye back to this exact day, the 25th April 2014, but a year earlier.

What were the main tales from that day? What big events were happening in Premier League football?

Here are some of the big scoops from the 25th April 2013…

Your Carlos

Carlos Vela revealed his fear at heading back to Arsenal. The Mexican had been cast aside by The Gunners - and he joined Spanish outfit Real Sociedad with little expectation.

But he was sensational last season - one of the stand out performers in La Liga.

However, a buy-back clause in his contract meant he could be re-signed by Arsenal at any point for a nominal fee.

Something he did not want to happen:

"It could happen at any time, but I don't want to think about it. My life is here, and it's wearing this shirt that I want to discover European football next year."

Humble Luis

Luis Suarez accepted his ten game ban for biting Branislav Ivanovic.

The Uruguayan said of the decision and his actions:

"I am truly very sorry. I hope that all the people who I have offended at Anfield last Sunday will grant me forgiveness. I know that all the things that are happening to me in England will help me to improve my conduct on the field. Right now, I just want to focus on becoming a better footballer on and off the field.”

Tomorrow the pair are reunited as Liverpool welcome Chelsea to Anfield in a title deciding clash.

'Next Kaka'

Manchester United took the ‘Next Kaka’ on trial from feeder club Desportivo Brasil.

Wellington Bueno has been training with FC Twente but was expected to join United for pre-season with the hope of becoming a permanent fixture at the club.

However he is now signed to Belgian side Anderlecht - although is still currently representing Desportivo as United’s link with the club has waned in recent months.
