A select round-up of morning news relating to Liverpool…
What a huge weekend it is for Liverpool, with victory over Chelsea on Sunday almost certainly guaranteeing them a first Premier League title.
There is still a lot of football to be played, but three more points against one of their closest challengers and they will be almost over the line.
But whatever happens, there will be some excellent news for Reds fans in the not too distant future, with Brendan Rodgers confirming he is close to signing a new deal at the club.
In quotes published by Sky Sports, the Liverpool boss said, “There is no doubt that, at some point, we will agree another deal. I am sure of that.”
That is fantastic news for the Reds faithful, who have seen Rodgers work wonders since he took over.
Rodgers also believes that “a giant has woken up” this season.
In quotes published by the Liverpool Echo, the former Swansea manager said, “In these last few months we have felt the sheer scale of this club.
“Throughout the world, I think everyone is seeing this this is a giant that has been woken up.”
If the Reds can go on to claim the Premier League title this season, it may just be the beginning of a bright new era for one of England’s most famous clubs.
