Chelsea star calls Liverpool ‘unstoppable’ and says he’d be happy if Gerrard lifts title

Chelsea defender Ashley Cole has been speaking ahead of the huge match between Liverpool and the Blues.

In an exclusive interview with beIN SPORTS, Chelsea left-back Ashley Cole has heaped praise on Liverpool just 24 hours before Jose Mourinho’s side come face-to-face with Brendan Rodgers’ champions elect.

The Reds will know that victory against Chelsea on Sunday afternoon will all but secure a Premier League title that has eluded them for so long.

Speaking on Saturday, Cole said, “I think when you’ve got people like Stevie Gerrard feeding Luis Suarez, Daniel Sturridge and Raheem Sterling through balls, with their pace they are kind of unstoppable.”

Cole – who has not enjoyed the best of seasons on a personal level after seeing his game-time at Stamford Bridge considerably reduced – reserved special praise for two Liverpool players – Gerrard and Suarez.

Of the Uruguayan, Cole said, “His awareness, his movement, his finishing – he is, for sure, at the minute one of the best players in the world.”

But it was England teammate Gerrard for whom he had perhaps the most telling comment to make – a sentiment that will be felt by many football fans and players, regardless of their club affiliations.

“This could be the year he wins the title and I’d be happy for him,” Cole said.

Few would disagree, but both players, along with all the others on show on Sunday, will know there is plenty of football still to be played before the final awards are handed out.
