The top five players linked with signing for Chelsea this week: Benzema, Lavezzi and more

Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Southampton stars all feature.

Chelsea are staring at a potentially brilliant end to the season with a place in the Champions League still possible and a Premier League title victory yet to become out of reach.

The Blues are in the fortunate position where they have a lot of players returning from loan deals this summer but they still have the resources to be able to add well to the squad.

Here are five of the best players to be linked with Stamford Bridge moves this week.

Karim Benzema (Real Madrid)

The Daily Mail claims Jose Mourinho will go back to his old club to try and sign the Frenchman is attempts to land Diego Costa are unsuccessful. Benzema has been coveted by several clubs around Europe including Premier League giants Arsenal, linked with him for virtually the whole season.

Angel Di Maria (Real Madrid)

The Mail also claims that Chelsea are interested in Real Madrid wide man Angel Di Maria, a player who has been linked with Arsenal and Manchester United. Di Maria is a very versatile winger, capable of playing down either side of the midfield, providing his coach with more options.

Edinson Cavani (Paris Saint-Germain)

The Express claims that if Chelsea are going to spend tens of millions on a striker this summer, owner Roman Abramovich wants it to be on PSG’s Cavani ahead of Atletico Madrid’s Diego Costa. Both forwards have been linked with Stamford Bridge moves for most of this season.

Ezequiel Lavezzi (Paris Saint-Germain)

The PSG winger was in great form in the Champions League game against Chelsea, showing the Blues exactly what he can do. However, the stumbling block here is that he plays in a similar position to Eden Hazard who has been Chelsea’s best player so far this season.

Luke Shaw (Southampton)

As reports of Manchester United’s interest grow, Chelsea could try and block any move for the teenage left-back to Old Trafford. Shaw has been suggested as the man who will replace Ashley Cole over the long term for Chelsea and until anything is made official, they have a chance of getting him.
