Luis Suarez: Liverpool's title challenge even a surprise to us

The Reds star admits that with the amount of money other teams have spent, the Merseysiders should not be top of the league.

Liverpool face Chelsea on Sunday in a massively important game at Anfield, with a home win all-but sealing the Premier League title for Brendan Rodgers’ men.

The Merseysiders have been rejuvenated under the Northern Irishman this term, with their form in the second half of the season in particular worthy of the title.

Luis Suarez has admitted that even the Reds players have been slightly surprised how well things have went and that it was even more spectacular given that Liverpool have not spent anywhere near as much as other teams.

"[Winning the title] would be something that no one would believe," the Uruguayan is quoted as saying by The Guardian.

"Because we have good players but if you look at the complete roster, we don't have [the players] to be up there. The truth is that we are surprised ourselves at how well we're playing.

"We have good players who are demonstrating why they are in Liverpool and it would be something amazing even to England because of the investment made by Chelsea, [Manchester] City and Arsenal.

"Even Tottenham have spent over €120m and we, with so little investment, are in that position. It would be incredible."

Suarez has had a fantastic season and formed a deadly partnership with Daniel Sturridge in the Reds attack.

Chelsea are currently five points adrift of Liverpool at the top, with City six points behind with a game in hand.
