Arsenal to try to sign German midfielder again, not Draxler – report

Lars Bender

The Telegraph state that Arsene Wenger is in the market for Bayer Leverkusen and Germany star Lars Bender once more.

With summer additions needed to get Arsenal back in the Premier League title race, potentially new faces are being weighed up by the North London side.

With the Emirates Stadium side having strong links to Germany, a number of Bundesliga stars are again being linked with a switch to the Gunners.

The Telegraph have stated that Arsene Wenger is considering a move for Lars Bender again – who was a reported target last summer.

The Germany international continues to impress at Bayer Leverkusen with the report stating that Arsenal are likely to make another approach for him this summer.

It also suggest that the London side had a £20 million bid rejected last time round, which could be an increased offer will be needed to persuade Leverkusen to part company with their star man.

Bender’s energy and no-nonsense approach in front of his side’s defence looks ideal for the Gunners’ midfield, with a bit of dynamism and steel necessary to help the side compete against the top sides in England.

Whether Leverkusen would be willing to let Bender go remains to be seen, with the player seemingly relatively happy at the BayArena.
