Paulinho, Luiz, Oscar and Willian get World Cup nods from Brazil boss Scolari

Chelsea and Tottenham stars have been given a welcome boost from Brazil boss Luiz Scolari.

Brazil are under more pressure than ever before this summer as they bid to win the World Cup on home soil, having failed on their only previous attempt in 1950.

They have turned to 2002 World Cup winning manager Luiz Scolari to guide them to success, and his planning is already moving forward.

Scolari is claimed to have decided on eight of his 23 squad places for the tournament already, and it's largely Premier League stars who benefit.

L'Equipe report: "The Brazilian coach has lifted some of the suspense Thursday revealing eight names: Thiago Silva, David Luiz, Julio Cesar, Fred, Willian, Oscar, Ramires and Paulinho."

That suggests Scolari is very impressed with what he has seen from Chelsea this season, with four of the eight belonging to the Blues, with Paulinho of Tottenham also assured of his place.

It illustrates what an excellent move Willian made by moving from Anzhi Makhachkala last summer, for he is the only one of the eight who was not even selected for the Confederations Cup last summer, with the other seven all key members of the winning side.

"I spoke with five players in London and I told them that I relied on them," Scolari is reported to have said.

Tottenham star Paulinho recently spoke of his worry at having been dropped, with reference to his World Cup chances, and this confirmation of his place will give him a real boost.

Now all the eight players need to do is remain fit and ensure they make it back to their homeland in time for the biggest tournament in sport.
