The Manchester United winger will represent the central European country, with his representative saying it ‘was a choice of the heart.’
Speculation over Adnan Januzaj’s international career ended yesterday as Belgium national coach Marc Wilmots revealed that the Manchester United youngster had opted to pledge his allegiance to the central European country.
The immensely gifted youngster had the choice to represent Albania, Turkey, Kosovo or Serbia due to family ties, but decided on the country of his birth.
The Old Trafford star’s agent Dirk De Vriese has stated that emotion was vested into Januzaj’s decision.
“Adnan was born in Belgium, he live most of his life in our country and still has many friends in Belgium,” the representative told RTBF.
“So it was a choice of the heart. Adnan is happy to have made his choice and thus ended speculation.”
There were faint hopes that Januzaj could have qualified to play for England due to residency laws, but that has now been dashed.
The United attacker has a potential chance of representing Belgium at this summer’s World Cup due to his choice.
