David Moyes In Emirates Press Conference

It seems that David Moyes losing his job is the butt of a few jokes.

One bookmaker has put a cheeky advert up on the big screen outside Liverpool Lime Street station. The advert from Paddy Power said: ‘Agent Moyes: Mission Accomplished'.

The former Everton manager was sacked as Manchester United boss on Tuesday after an awful campaign which has seen last season’s champions drop to seventh place in the Premier League, and with no silverware to show for their efforts this season.

The axe fell on Moyes after he was hand picked by predecessor Sir Alex Ferguson to take over the reins at Old Trafford, and failure to achieve Champions League football seems to be one of the main reasons as United look likely to miss out on any European football for next season.

Not many will have tipped United's fall from grace to be so rapid under Moyes after so many years of success under Ferguson.

It isn’t the first time the bookmaker has mocked Moyes after someone dressed as the Grim Reaper appeared behind Moyes during Everton’s 2-0 win over Manchester United at the weekend.

By contrast, the two teams on Merseyside are enjoying very good seasons, with Liverpool in pole position to claim their first league title in 24 years, whilst Everton under Roberto Martinez are in hot pursuit of Arsenal for the fourth Champions League place.
