Arsenal fans react on Twitter to Tom Cleverley links

Arsenal have been linked with a move for Manchester United's Tom Cleverley, and supporters are not happy about it.

Arsenal are linked with more than their fair share of transfer targets, and there are often some surprising names in there.

The Star last year claimed Andy Carroll was a target, while The Mail previously touted Frank Lampard.

Now add Tom Cleverley of Manchester United to that list.

John Cross of The Mirror claims the under-fire United midfielder has a fan in Arsene Wenger, with the paper reporting:

"Wenger is also keeping tabs on Manchester United’s Tom Cleverley who is a target for Everton this summer but his future is now unclear with a new manager set to come in at Old Trafford."

Cleverley was billed a couple of seasons ago as a top prospect in English football, with United fans comparing him to Arsenal star Jack Wilshere.

Despite impressing in the 8-2 victory over Arsenal, Cleverley has failed to kick on, and this season been seen as a scapegoat for the poor performances by United's midfield, and their team in general.

He has been dropped by the club in recent weeks, and his World Cup place is in doubt, despite manager Roy Hodgson being a fan. In truth he has done little on this season's form to show he deserves a place on the plane to Brazil.

At Arsenal he would join a young core of British talents, where it could be hoped Arsene Wenger possesses the coaching intuition, unlike David Moyes, to get the best out of him.

Wenger has transform Aaron Ramsey, and may see enough in Cleverley to feel a similar uplift in form is possible.

Everton have also been linked with Cleverley, whose future will depend on the next United manager, whoever that may be.

Arsenal fans, hoping for a more exciting transfer link, are not impressed, and have been making their feelings clear via Twitter.
