The Telegraph reported yesterday that Manchester United would enquire over Pep Guardiola’s availability as they search for a new manager.
The decision to sack David Moyes leaves one of the most prestigious positions in world football available for a top profile coach to come in and transform the side from the disappointing team we’ve seen this season.
However, if United go to Bayern Munich and ask about Guardiola as the national paper suggests, Bundesliga expert Jan Aage Fjortoft has suggested it would be a complete waste of time.
In fact he’s so confident that Guardiola won’t turn his back on the German champions, he’s suggested that United may as well ask if Elvis Presley is available at the same time.
The Telegraph: Manchester United will check if Guardiola is available. Why don't they check out Elvis Presley while they're at it— Jan Aage Fjortoft (@JanAageFjortoft) April 22, 2014
Guardiola’s contract doesn’t expire until 2016 and while his Bayern side have been impressive throughout the season, he’s maintained they are nowhere near the level he wants them to be playing at.
