This isn’t the first time FootballDirectNews has appeared in the transfer bin on HITC and it probably won’t be the last.
This time the site, which predominantly posts about football transfer rumours, has suggested that Tottenham are considering selling midfielder Sandro to Liverpool.
It’s easy to see where this idea started considering the apparent fallout between the Brazilian and Tim Sherwood which has been well publicised in the press over the past week.
However, it’s a rumour which doesn’t make any sense though it would be a fantastic move for Liverpool if they pulled it off.
The 25-year-old, commonly referred to as ‘the Beast’, is one of the most adored Tottenham Hotspur players with the club’s fans.
His style of play sees him snapping at the heels of the opposition around the midfield, breaking up the play in an aggressive fashion which pleases supporters who like nothing more than to watch Spurs get stuck in.
The idea that Sandro could leave because of his relationship with Sherwood is flawed in itself.
There have been numerous reports this month, which have suggested that Sherwood will lose his job in the summer, with a more experienced manager likely to come in and replace him.
If that’s the case then Sandro has no reason to leave the club and his brilliant relationship with the fans because of his feelings towards the current boss.
He’s also not actually a bad player.
Sandro is predominantly defensive but he’s also a far more versatile player than many give him credit for.
This season has seen him holding his midfield position in front of the back four as well as dropping into the centre of defence when the side has struggled with a long injury list.
That versatility makes him important because he gives the manager more options.
The appeal of Liverpool is clear because Brendan Rodgers’ men could start next season as the Premier League champions along with Champions League football, which is now secure.
However, Sandro is at a club where he’s adored and with a clear role in the side when he’s selected.
Rubbish Rating: Believable because Liverpool need a straight up defensive midfielder but FDN couldn’t have picked a more popular Tottenham Hotspur star to suggest could turn his back on the club.
