Brendan Rodgers has revealed he’s already had discussions with the club’s owners about next season and beyond. The boss has revealed that owners of the Fenway Sports Group are delighted with the progress of the club.
“They are absolutely delighted with what they've seen over the past 20 months and we talked about how we can keep the club moving forward because that's vitally important,” the gaffer told the Liverpool Echo.
Managing director Ian Ayre has revealed his belief that the Reds will be able to attract a better standard of player this summer because of their involvement in the Champions League. Liverpool will automatically qualify if they win the Premier League or finish second.
“There is no question we always expected that the squad we need for next season will be very different to the squad that we have needed for this year when we were not playing in Europe,” Ayre is quoted by Sky Sports.
Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini says the three way title race between his side, Liverpool and Chelsea will go to the wire, with Liverpool’s game against Chelsea this weekend unlikely to prove decisive.
“I don't think Sunday will be decisive - Liverpool could win on Sunday and then maybe the other two games will be very difficult for them,” Pellegrini told the MEN.
TalkSPORT has suggested that Liverpool will go head-to-head with AC Milan to sign Cristian Tello from Barcelona. Barca are no longer restricted by a transfer ban, which FIFA announced they were lifting earlier today. The 22-year-old is rated at around the £8 million mark.
Former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez would make a good boss for Manchester United, according to Dietmar Hamann. The German suggested United should go after the Spaniard earlier today on a talkSPORT radio show.
“Rafa Benítez is in Italy at Napoli but his family still lives in the north west and he has always made it clear that he would love to return to the Premier League at some stage,” said the German.
Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet says he’s not surprised by what Luis Suarez is capable of doing. The Belgian has revealed that the Uruguayan’s skills in training have left him amazed.
“He doesn't surprise me any more. I see him every day in training. He is so good and we're very pleased to have him,” he told the Liverpool Echo.
Former Liverpool defender Sami Hyypia has admitted that Rodgers has done a great job in charge of the club. The Finnish coach says he’s happy to see the side playing with so much confidence in all departments.
