Chelsea morning news: Mourinho admits he may turn back on Premier League to win in Europe

A round up of news stories this morning about Chelsea.

Jose Mourinho has hinted he may rest players this weekend for the Premier League game at Liverpool.

The Blues secured a 0-0 draw in Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final against Atletico Madrid, which leaves the match finely balanced ahead of the return leg.

“I have to listen to the club. I think the fact that the match is on Sunday I think puts the problem not in my hands - I know what I would do, but I’m not the club. I have to speak with the club - I would play with the players that are not going to play Wednesday,” said the boss.

Key Chelsea stars John Terry and Petr Cech appear to be out for the rest of the season through injury.

Terry picked up a foot problem while Cech hurt an elbow in the Champions League semi-final against Atletico Madrid last night.

“Petr Cech's season is over. Don't ask me technically, but season over - And John - we have to play in the final for him to play with us (again),” said Mourinho.

The Mirror claims Chelsea defender Ashley Cole is a target for Spanish giants Real Madrid.

A left-back signing would allow Los Blancos to release a player such as Fabio Coentrao, potentially to Manchester United.

Cole is a free agent at the end of the season and the deal that would take him to the Bernabeu is reportedly worth around £3.5 million.
